Fuel chips are harvested from low-quality wood, which remains during sanitary felling, when uprooting unrooted trunks, twigs and branches of unsorted wood species. Raw materials are processed into tyrsa on disk and drum type machines.

Improvement of wood waste before processing - more expensive raw material

The quality of wood used to make wood chips can be improved. The so-called torrefaction of wood is known. It is a low-temperature pyrolysis treatment technology that improves the properties of wood.

Drying is carried out in an oxygen-free chamber at a temperature of 200-300 C for 6-30 minutes at a heating rate of 50 C per minute. Under these conditions, hemicellulose is split and fuel is formed in the form of a hydrophobic and homogeneous powder, which is further compressed into pellet granules. Such pellets have a higher heat capacity comparable to coal.

A little about the preparation of pellets from tyrsa

Pellet technology has been around since 1947. Granulation of raw materials or pelletization takes place in ring dies with rotating rotor rollers, which press the prepared mass into holes. Wood raw material is prepared with the help of a steam generator and fed to the pelletizing unit. A knife is installed on the outside of the stamp, cutting the granules of the desired length.

The production process of pellets from tyrsa is divided into the following processes:

• chopping is carried out with the help of a chipping unit, which crushes loaded logs and branches to a size of less than 25 * 26 * 2;
• raw materials are transported through the line to the dryer with the help of a pneumatic feeder, where they are brought to a moisture content of 2-10%;
• after that, additional grinding is carried out;
• raw materials with a moisture content of less than 8-10% are poorly pressed, so the next step is the water treatment of the tyrsa in order to obtain the usual pellets from the tyrsa;
• stage of hot pressing and pellet molding;
• cooling;
• packing.

If you have a pellet boiler installed, this line redirects the pellets to the warehouse, from where they are fed to the pellet boiler with a pneumatic feeder.
