Artificial fog and its application: choosing a fogger nozzle
How artificial fog is made can be found in our previous publication on misting systems for greenhouses. Today we will talk about the intricacies of choosing nozzles in fog systems, and how this affects the artificial fog itself. We will also pay attention to the use of technology in different formats.
How is the effect of artificial fog achieved?
Fog systems are high-pressure installations in which water is supplied with a pressure generated by a pump to a spray nozzle. Due to the design and the corresponding pressure in the system, microdroplets fly out of the nozzle, which immediately evaporate and form a misty cloud.
Fog systems instead of air conditioning
In other words, you can not be afraid that you install a sprinkler, water under pressure will form an artificial fog. Properly selected parameters of the system components also imply the comfort of use that always accompanies you with the FOCUS trademark. Fog systems can be used for air conditioning.
This type of cooling is useful from several points of view:
- the room temperature drops by 5-10 degrees;
- moisture is leveled;
- dust is deposited in the air;
- It is used to freshen the air in rooms with poor air circulation.
The fog system, by lowering the temperature, does not create cold air currents, which often negatively affect the state of the respiratory system.
How nozzles affect the fogging process
In addition to the system itself, special attention is paid to the choice of fog system nozzles. With their help, water is directly sprayed. The design of the nozzle itself and the pressure in the system matter. The higher the pressure, the usually finer the sprayed microdroplets, that is, the better the dispersion parameters.
Atomization mist system can do the following types of nozzles:
- spraying water in the form of a fine cloud (the best);
- in the form of a hollow cone;
- or a uniform beam (less efficient).
How to choose the right fogging system?
As for nozzles, the supplied set of equipment must have nozzles that spray liquid in the form of a fine cloud. The nozzles spraying water with a hollow cone are less effective.
A uniform spray beam is typical for budget systems. Such artificial fog is obtained in low pressure systems, the kit includes PVC pipes with low pressure plastic nozzles. The main disadvantage of budget systems is the wetting of surrounding objects.
Types of fog systems:
- low pressure system (2.5-6 kgf/cm2) - budget system with plastic nozzles and PVC pipes;
- medium pressure system (about 15 kgf/cm2) - the best choice for climates with hot and dry air, not only for terraces, greenhouses and greenhouses, but also as an air conditioner in apartments and offices;
- high pressure system (up to 100 kgf/cm2) – professional systems for industrial greenhouses, normalization of temperature in parks and public recreation areas for vacationers. The artificial fog of these systems evaporates instantly, leaving no traces of moisture on objects.
Performance characteristics
Artificial fog is suitable for the climate:
- air temperature 29-45 C;
- humidity: 40-80%.
The efficiency of the system depends on the amount of water used.
What needs to be done so that artificial fog will please you longer
The operation of the mist system obviously depends on the quality of the water, primarily its softness. Water with sand, inclusions, and hard water is not suitable. For this reason, the finished modules contain special membrane softening filters, if you use water from a well, in addition to everything, install a good mechanical filter.
In industrial systems, water treatment is carried out by electromagnetic systems and with the help of chemical reagents. If you are interested in an individual fog system for industrial greenhouses, parks, factories, contact TM FOCUS specialists.
