Balancing valve — is a device designed to regulate the flow of coolant in various sections of the heating or cooling system, preventing hydrocyclic shocks in the pipeline system. The main function of the balancing valve is to ensure uniform distribution of the coolant across all circuits or heating devices, which contributes to the efficient functioning of the system and increased comfort in the premises.

The valve is a control valve, in addition to heating it is used in cold and hot water supply systems to limit the water pressure and water supply speed, as well as to limit the flow rate by consumer groups. The intensity of the coolant supply and water supply is adjusted mechanically, which allows you to connect and balance individual circuits and risers of water heating. With their help, recirculation pipelines of hot water supply are balanced.

Balancing valve: manufacturers, materials and dimensions

The balancing valve is available in different sizes, depending on the diameter of the pipes (1/2", 3/4", 1", 1 1/4"). Manufacturers indicate the desired water flow rate, the level of which should not be exceeded, the working pressure and the nominal operating temperature. The most wear-resistant are brass valves, the choice of material for manufacturing depends on the size and technical operating conditions.

Main components and operating principle of the balancing valve:

  1. Adjustment mechanism — the valve is equipped with a special mechanism that allows you to change the flow area and, therefore, the coolant flow through it. This makes it possible to adjust the desired flow rate depending on the requirements of a particular circuit or heating device.
  2. Indicators — many modern balancing valves are equipped with indicators or scales that allow the optimal valve position to be set digitally or analogously in accordance with the specified coolant flow parameters.
  3. Installation elements - balancing valves can be installed in various parts of the system, including individual heating circuits, radiators or heated floors. This allows you to accurately regulate the coolant flow in each specific node of the system.

Balancing valve functions:

  • Ensuring uniformity of heat transfer - valves allow you to compensate for differences in hydraulic resistance between different circuits or heating devices, ensuring uniform distribution of the coolant.
  • Energy saving — Correct balancing of the system can reduce energy consumption of pumps and increase the efficiency of the heating or cooling system.
  • Improving comfortable conditions — by balancing the valves, uniform heat distribution throughout the room is achieved, which increases the level of comfort for residents or workers.
