Ventilation (definition)

Ventilation is the process of ensuring constant exchange of air in a room or building, which is aimed at maintaining the quality of the air, eliminating pollution and providing comfortable conditions for people to live or work.

Key aspects of ventilation:

  1. Fresh air supply - ventilation systems constantly supply fresh air into the room from outside to provide it with sufficient oxygen content and improve air quality.
  2. Exhaust air removal — ventilation also removes polluted and exhaust air from the room, including the removal of carbon dioxide, moisture, odors, dust and other harmful substances.
  3. Air distribution — ventilation systems distribute air throughout the building, ensuring uniform distribution of temperature and humidity, which helps create comfortable conditions.

Ventilation types:

  • Natural ventilation - carried out thanks to natural air flows through windows, doors and other openings, as well as through air wells and shafts.
  • Forced ventilation - Ventilation devices such as fans and ducts are used to increase air flow and ensure efficient air exchange.

Ventilation functions:

  • Providing health — maintaining clean and fresh air, which improves people's health and productivity.
  • Preventing mold and mildew — regular ventilation helps to avoid excess humidity, which can contribute to the development of mold and mildew.
  • Energy efficiency — use of modern technologies and control systems to minimize energy consumption of ventilation devices.

Application of ventilation:

Ventilation systems are widely used in residential buildings, office buildings, hospitals, schools, industrial facilities and other buildings to ensure a healthy air environment and maintain comfortable working and living conditions. Effective ventilation plays a key role in maintaining the vital functions of a building and a favorable climate for people.
