Apartments are a separate type of real estate, where individual systems are carried out within the framework of strict requirements. Gas boilers are usually installed and solid fuel fireplaces can be used if older houses have working chimneys. In houses, stoves and fireplaces are used for heating, including those with a water circuit, pellet boilers, gas and electric boilers.

It must be said that in the near future only Ukraine will have a developed central heating system in Europe. On the one hand, this is an advantage, on the other hand, it is housing and communal services and tariffs for heating and electricity under monopoly conditions that create a large financial burden on the population. For example, the state justifies its income precisely by the income of this sector of the economy, and increases tariffs for each IMF loan, the results of which do not reach the population.

Smart heating systems

Smart heating is a type and subsystem of a smart home, which is often considered as part of climate control. In the future, various options for regulating the microclimate of premises may be offered within the framework of Smart City technologies; they will represent a separate digital control of the heating of one’s home.

What does “smart heating” give consumers:

• Schedule management. Systems that automatically adjust the temperature according to a given schedule.
• Remote control. Allows owners to control heating via mobile applications or web interfaces.
• Climate control devices with motion sensors. Adjusts room temperature based on detection of occupancy.

Choosing the right heating technology depends on many factors, such as budget, fuel availability, climate conditions and personal preference.

When you wonder what kind of heating is used in greenhouses, you should always look for the answer within the concept of climate control. It follows the basics of HVAC, which means ventilation, heating, cooling, humidity and lighting control. Taking into account what specific type of greenhouses we are talking about, a specific design solution is built.

What does a greenhouse climate system include?

A greenhouse climate system includes several components that work together to create optimal growing conditions for plants in the greenhouse environment. Here are the main components of a greenhouse climate system:

1. Ventilation. Good ventilation in a greenhouse is essential to ensure air circulation and humidity control. Ventilation windows or vents are usually located on the roof and/or sides of the greenhouse. They can be automatic and respond to changes in temperature and humidity, opening or closing according to preset parameters.
2. Heating. As mentioned, a heating system is used to maintain an optimal temperature in the greenhouse, especially during the colder months or at night. What kind of heating is there in greenhouses? Electric fan heaters, hot water heaters, radiator heating and water-based air heating are used. The energy source used is electricity, gas, steam (for large complexes) or solar energy.
3. Cooling. On hot days, the greenhouse may become too hot, which can negatively affect the plants. Cooling systems such as fogging systems, fans or air conditioners. They help reduce the temperature and maintain comfortable conditions in the greenhouse.
4. Humidity control. Controlling humidity in a greenhouse is important to prevent the development of fungal diseases and mold growth. Air enrichment systems or even humidifiers can be used for this.
5. Lighting. In some cases, lighting may also be included in the greenhouse's climate control system, especially during periods of limited sunlight. This may include the use of artificial lighting to extend the daylight period.
6. Monitoring CO2 levels. It is known that plants need carbon dioxide to develop, while in the process of photosynthesis they synthesize oxygen. On closed ground, there may be a lack of carbon dioxide, which negatively affects agricultural crops.

Climate control in a greenhouse is organized through a set of systems and techniques aimed at regulating temperature, humidity, ventilation, and sometimes even lighting to create optimal conditions for growing plants. Here are the key components of greenhouse climate control:

• Greenhouses typically have ventilation systems, including roof fans, side fans, or fans, to regulate air flow and temperature within the structure. Ventilation helps prevent overheating on sunny days and ensures proper air circulation for plants
• Greenhouses often use heating systems to maintain the required temperature, especially during cold weather or at night. Common heating methods include gas heaters, electric heaters, hot water pipes, or underfloor heating systems;
• In hot climates or during the summer months, cooling systems are necessary to prevent excessive heat inside the greenhouse. Cooling methods may include shade cloth, evaporative cooling systems, misting systems, or even air conditioning units;
• Controlling humidity levels is critical to preventing fungal diseases and ensuring optimal plant growth. Greenhouses may use humidity sensors and automatic fogging systems to maintain desired humidity levels or dehumidifiers to reduce excess moisture.
• Although natural sunlight is the primary source of light in greenhouses, supplemental lighting may be required, especially during short winter days or in regions with limited sunlight. Artificial lighting systems such as LED or high-pressure sodium (HPS) lamps can extend the photoperiod and provide additional light for plant growth.
• Many modern greenhouses use automated climate control systems that combine sensors, actuators and controllers to monitor environmental conditions and adjust heating, cooling, ventilation and irrigation systems accordingly. These systems help optimize resource utilization and minimize manual intervention.

Generally, effective climate control greenhouses require a well-designed system that balances heating, cooling, ventilation, humidity and lighting to create the ideal environment for plant growth throughout the year. This approach is brought together by the acronym HVAC. It is important for greenhouse operators to regularly monitor the environment and make necessary adjustments to ensure the health and productivity of their crops.

HVAC FOCUS concept for greenhouses: what greenhouse heating is like in practice

This approach is to create optimal climatic conditions based on FOCUS pellet technology. In many ways, they reflect the classical approaches to organizing a microclimate control system in greenhouses, described above. We offer a practical solution for creating a three-circuit heating system: heated floors, radiator circuit and air heating, operating from one source of inexpensive heat, as well as cooling systems based on fogging.

Sensors needed to monitor other climate parameters can be connected to the PLUM HVAC system. The digital control layer combines functional elements with control via a website and mobile application.

Often, when owners enter a new home, the question arises what kind of heating without gas is available and how to heat the house most profitably. This issue is acute for geographically remote objects: shops, hotels and cafes. Today we will talk about the optimal solution to issues. We will classify objects according to the area and complexity of the boiler heating circuit.

Small houses with an area of 50-100 square meters. m

Small rooms are easiest to heat with electricity. Deploying a water heating system based on electrode boilers is budgetary and economical. At a low cost, you will get a high-quality heating system, fully regulated by climate control, and at such a level that you don’t have to think anymore about which heating without gas is better. Free electricity can be obtained by installing a wind turbine near a building. Be aware of the noise these devices make.

Even if there is no gas, it is much easier to provide electricity to the house, so you can use mainline services. Keep in mind that if you have a frame house built, then in this case it is better to use air heating, for example, fan heaters installed in greenhouses. You can deploy air heating on radiators. In frame houses, it makes sense to install heated floors to heat the lower part of the house.

Warm floors from solar collectors

For low-temperature heating in the off-season, solar collectors can be used. This high-quality and free heating is especially effective in private houses and frame buildings, due to the constant maintenance of temperature in the lower part of the room. Under these conditions, heat savings can be achieved by recirculating air from the ceiling to the floor.

Houses with an average area of 100-200 sq. m

The problem of heating houses and buildings with a larger area is related to the number of kilowatts that will be required to operate the electric heating system. To profitably extract electricity from the main network, it makes sense to install a solar power plant at a “feed-in tariff”. However, this solution will only partially solve the problem; given the high electricity tariffs, it is worth looking for another heating option.

For these purposes, that is, for medium-sized houses, restaurants remote from the city, and industrial premises, autonomous heating will be required. It can be deployed on the basis of a monoblock pellet boiler with a built-in pellet hopper. The boiler is controlled by a microcontroller and allows the use of climate control devices. This, in total, contributes to fuel economy, in this case, pellet granules. Thanks to its fairly high power, you can deploy all types of heating: air, water and heated floors.

Large houses and buildings

To heat large buildings, it makes sense to install a pellet boiler house on the roof; this allows you to save on pumping equipment, or on the site of a heating point. FOCUS pellet boilers are industrial-grade heating equipment and allow cascade connection in the heating circuit with a total power of up to 2.5 MW. In some cases, pellet boiler houses can be deployed with a total capacity of up to 2000 MW; in combination with a digital climate control loop and passivation of buildings, such heating points can become the basis for heating smart cities, provided that pellets from urban waste are used.
